About Us

LUMA Fitness was created in 2007 by locals Justin and Jessica Elsey & Trent Herzog. It originally opened as S.P.D Factory (Speed & Power Development), a small facility on Lakeville Hwy that was designed to train high school and college athletes. Over time, as parents observed classes, interest sparked & curiosity began to build. The parents approached Justin and began requesting group training of their own. In 2010, the next chapter began and LUMA Fitness was born. Although Luma still trains athletes, it has since grown & evolved into a much larger community and caters to a larger demographic of adults.

In 2020, during the Pandemic, the Elsey's sold Luma Fitness to Connor & Kehley Waggoner. Connor was one of original FIVE MEMBERS ever at S.P.D Factory. 15 years later, the stronger named LUMA Fitness still remains the only locally owned gym and the #1 place to get in shape!  LUMA Fitness and its members are a family of hardworking, community centered Petaluman's along with a handful of other local business owners.

As a former Petaluma three sport prep-athlete, Connor found a love for strength and conditioning to positively impact his play on the field.

A football scholarship allowed him to earn his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University . This education gave him the knowledge and tools to pursue a  successful career in fitness for people and athletes of all backgrounds. The display of positive attitudes and the eagerness to improve is what motivates Connor to consistently design and create innovative ways to push individuals towards their personal goals.

Whether the goal is health and vitality, increasing overall size and strength, a more toned physique, or recapturing that feeling of limitless energy you once felt; I'm here to help you look, move, and feel exactly how you want. My mission is to help each and every client pinpoint their goals, identify and overcome self-imposed obstacles, and develop a unique and effective program that can be followed in a fun and effective way. I will guide you through a program specifically designed to challenge you at every turn.

    Witnessing the way that fitness and health goals can completely change someone's life is what motivates Jane to take training and health to the next level. She strives to teach that healthy living is a lifestyle that doesn't have to feel stressful. “Consistency brings motivation, and motivation brings consistency” is a quote that Jane lives by. She believes that life is all about balance, and finding the way that fitness and health works for you is more important than changing how you naturally want to operate, to work for fitness and health.

Kinesiology caught my attention right away in college, it quickly changed my entire career path. After knee surgery and constant shoulder injuries I had to learn how to approach the gym in new ways, I had to focus on not only strengthening but also rehabbing and preventing further injuries. I was a competitive swimmer and athlete for 10 years but it wasn’t until I made weight training my main focus that I realized what a huge difference it could make in a person's life. Mentally and physically I became stronger and healthier than ever before and my goal is to help show others how to do the same.

When it comes to life’s many challenges, no one rides for free, and for every major obstacle I have experienced in my life, exercise has been my saving grace, and motivator to keep going! I believe exercise teaches us how to be vulnerable, how to be okay with discomfort, how to be our own hero when we need it most, and how to listen to our body on a deeper  level. It is my mission to help others  discover the healing and empowerment that exercise fosters. May they find that fitness is not only a  tool to build their body, but also their mind and spirit!
